As we journey through our lives we pick up many distortions along the way, about who we are, and what we are to do with our lives. There has been much concentration on removing negative thoughts and impressions and replacing them with more positive attributes. But do we really listen to who we are and what we are to become, or do we enforce something upon ourselves that we think we should be, or think we should do, even if it is of a loving nature? Very often we are telling our soul what we want of it, but how often do we stop and ask, "Soul, what do you want of me?"
God has many qualities that want to be reflected through us as we live on this earth, but again very often it is us doing the choosing through our minds desire. Perhaps God has an altogether different quality that needs to be lived through you. Let your life tell you what you embody, for you already do embody it. Stop and listen to what so richly lives within you, and stop striving to be something else, no matter how noble or holy!
Vocation comes from the Latin word "voice." Listen to your voice within. Hear what your soul and life are telling you, and take that out to bless the world; this is your vocation. Palmer says, "Before you tell your life what you intend to do with it, listen for what it intends to do with you."
May you be exactly the person that you were born to be.

JOURNEYING INTO LOVE: ASSISI PILGRIMAGE & RETREAT
OCTOBER 26-31, 2008
This pilgrimage will focus on the teachings and life of Clare of Assisi. It will also include teachings from my new book on Sacred Companionship. We will learn about Clare and Francis and their most beautiful and extraordinary relationship, which was based on the spirit of sacred love. We will learn how we can incorporate this same love into our daily living with our various companions, whether intimate, friends, or healing connections. We have many companions on this earth.
We have the great honor to gather and meditate in a very sacred space right in Assisi, which is dedicated to all the world religions and contemplation. We also have exclusive use of a converted monastery, where we will all be staying. It is also right in Assisi and has a lovely little terrace that looks out over the valley. Very picturesque in the misty mornings. I feel blessed that I can offer these places to you.
