Glastonbury Moments
God’s grace is either painful or nurturing
- St. John of the Cross
Upon traveling to Glastonbury, England I was warned that it was a place where your shadow rises to meet you, in often, quite intense ways. My prayer entering this land was, “please let it be gentle.” And so it was. The wondrous Tor cradled me in its mighty arms and revealed all sorts of wonders to my soul. The only times it felt more intense was when ancient memories were surfacing that I did not want to face. In permitting them to surface they were washed clean from my soul, and also from my body, in the extraordinary healing waters of the Chalice Well.
I wonder how much pain we are experiencing in our life simply due to habit or expectation? Our mind does not trust happiness because it knows only of the very precarious ego-sense of this word; it does not know of the true happiness that lies deep within. I was fascinated to read this quote:
The metabolic pathways of pain and malaise evolved because they served the fitnessof our genes in the ancestral environment. They will be replaced by a different sort ofneural architecture a motivational system based on heritable gradients of bliss. States of sublime well-being are destined to become the genetically pre-programmed norm of mental health. David Pearce
I believe this pre-programming is happening right now, and, still has some way to go. May we all be willing participants! Certainly the land of Glastonbury holds deep ancestral lines and patterns, some needing to be cleansed, others needing to be remembered and activated. It is a powerful land with a distinct place in our evolutionary history, and a place where ancient Christian and pagan ways can blend harmoniously in and through us today.
I look forward to 2012, which I know will reveal an exceptionally powerful pilgrimage for all. Bookings are already being made at hotels and retreat centers for this year.
I dreamt the other night of the dates 2012 and 2035 let us see what they will bring.
Sending special Glastonbury moments to you
