I would invite you to purchase the latest edition of the Light of Consciousness Magazine; an excellent source for our world consciousness today. You will also find an article that I have written Clare of Assisi: A Light Unto the World. Clare has much to teach us about living in difficult times with joy.
I will now be offering Mary Magdalene I & II Pilgrimages. Please see Sacred Journeys & Retreats page for details.
Times of Initiation
While journeying in France I visited the Cathar Initiation Caves. I was fortunate to meet up with a local man who had an extensive knowledge of these caves, which together with tunnels and secret passageways, covered miles of underground area within the surrounding mountains.
There are seven initiation caves in total. The first is very large and is a natural Cathedral-like cave filled with light and the most stunning pink-striated rock. The last is small and filled with light. The other five are of varying degrees of effort and difficulty in reaching, and all in total darkness.
I was led deep into the darkness of the mountain, crouching through tunnels, sliding down rock chutes, sitting in small chambers where a sense of anxiety arose wanting me to leave. Very quickly however I was able to tell myself that it would be a long way out, whether I went back or forward, so I decided to continue. I then had to pull myself along on my belly through a very narrow opening, and in doing so came into a magnificent cave where we sat and meditated in silence.
In this depth, in this silence, I lay upon the very ground of the womb of The Mother. Thoughts would arise like bubbles in the wind, and then they would simply float off again. Similarly, fears would arise, and then float away. Mostly there was just Nothing a beautiful emptiness and yet complete fullness all at once. No thought or fear could touch me, they were simply things arising and falling.
When we ventured out of the cave and made our way to an opening of the mountain, we were bathed in golden light and stepped into the world as reborn, as visitors to this world, at once fascinated by it and drinking in its beauty. Yet it was the depth of the darkness from where we had come that felt more like home. It was such a deep resting place, a place of profound peace.
We are all going through initiations of one sort or another at this time, be it personal healing, severe weather conditions, financial difficulty, or other. We are all being asked to symbolically slide down rock chutes, crawl on our bellies, and confront our fears and anxieties. May I suggest we let these things rise like bubbles in the air, tending to them but not being affected by them. It is when severity knocks at our door that we are given the opportunity to place our spiritual practice into real event practice. My sense is we will be called upon to do this even more as our world unfolds.
May you know your center of Peace and hold that for yourself, for others, and for our world. May that center inform you of right words and right action.
May The Mother in all of Her compassion draw you into her Womb of Love, giving birth to faith and hope within you. A beautiful definition of spiritual hope: to align with thoughts of goodness, drawing to you, angelic and other beings that will bring you the goodness of God. May this goodness reign upon our earth.
Wishing you a blessed journey this month, Meghan
