The Abundance of Love
“For to everyone who has, more will be given and she will have abundance;but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.” Matthew 25:29
This is a strong and beautiful passage about receiving from the loving and ever-giving universe. The universe is always presenting us with something in one way or another, whether that be in the form of giving, or of taking away. If we are given the gift of love in our lives, but we do not feel that we are worthy or good enough to receive that love, we fall into a contraction of our smaller self, our heart closes, and our mind tells us that this is for our safety. The universe has no choice but to comply with our false beliefs, and the love that is present sadly returns to the source, patiently awaiting another opportunity to pour itself into our bodies and souls. For those who are able to receive the love so generously given, they then begin to experience the utter extravagance of God. Love begets love, and so the journey into the boundlessness and the abundance of the universal love begins. The openness of the heart allows the universe to fulfill its desire, which is for you to know that you are loved so completely and so fully that nothing can stop this love from overflowing from the source to you, and from you to the source, and all beings. The question for us is, can we receive such abundance? Can we know that we are good enough to be loved? No matter what wounding we have experienced, what darkness still lurks in our soul, the abundance of love is forever within us, and all around us. Sometimes we lose sight of this truth, we lose sight of our ultimate loving and abundant nature. Perhaps we, like the blind man, need to hear the words of Jesus, when he asks, “What do you want me to do for you?” (Mark 10:51). Perhaps we can answer, “open my heart to my own goodness, open my heart so I know I am worthy of being loved in every area of my life.”

Looking at their lives we will explore where joy resides in our life and where it does not. We will look and see what beliefs still hold us captured and do not allow us to experience this joy fully in all aspects of our lives.

Jesus walked this earth, breathing and living truth and love. He became the Word of God, alive in our world. We are all called to carry on this mission of becoming the sacredness of this Word in our daily living. We are destined for “making great” the presence of God on our earth. In this retreat we will fall into the depths of our eternal silence through the practice of Lectio Divina (a mantra-type meditation), allowing for the dissolving of old and frenzied cultural frameworks and expectations. We will chant Taize prayers, and move our bodies in celebration of our humanity and divinity. Join prize-winning author, Megan Don, as she leads us on this sacred pilgrimage through the life of Clare of Assisi. We will learn of Clare’s relationship and commitment to God, her creation of a new women’s community, and her sacred companionship with Francis of Assisi.We will follow Clare through all of her hopes, dreams, disappointments, and her own spiritual healing and fulfillment, as she walked steadfastly in her love for God and her deep love for Francis.
